511 MINUTES WITHOUT A GOAL

Manchester City's star player has been unable to save his side due to his failure to hit the target and a lack of collaboration from his teammates. Agüero has now gone 511 minutes without scoring in all competitions. Even though his league haul currently stands on the same figure which he managed last campaign (17), the goals have dried up. He has not hit the back of the net since scoring against Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie on 24th February. This is highly unusual for such a lethal striker.

The drought extends even further back in the Premiership. The last time he netted in the league was during City's 5-1 drubbing of Newcastle on 21st February. It has been a decidedly arid panorama since then: five league games without a goal. Even though he has scored 23 goals this season, only four of those have come since he got injured against Everton in December. The Sky Blues have hit a rough patch and their problems have taken a toll on his effectiveness.

Kun tried to break the dry spell again against Crystal Palace, hitting the post in the first half. However, none of his other attempts were on target. He moved, linked up with his teammates (40 passes, 85% of them good) and battled with the centre backs, but without success. He drew defenders out of position and went past them with the ball, but was unable to penetrate the maze of legs in front of Palace's goalmouth.

Agüero has only scored four goals in the last 14 games. Manchester City are running out of steam when they move forward. In their last eight games, both domestic and European, the Citizens have only netted eight times. By this stage of the season last year they had scored 85 goals in the Premiership. This time around they have only managed 63 - that's a huge difference of 22 goals. Kun and the rest of the City front line are decidedly off-cue.
