SET TO BECOME THE FACE OF SWISS BANK, BANK JULIUS BAER

Cristiano Ronaldo could be set to become the new international face of Bank Julius Baer, a financial institution based in Zurich, if ongoing negotiations between the bank and the Portuguese footballer's agents come to fruition.

Having entered the private banking market in Spain just two years ago, Julius Baer now wants to go global with its brand with a campaign spearheaded by none other than CR7, one of the players with greatest influential weight and media power in the international market.
Ronaldo already has experience of sponsorship in the banking sector as he was previously involved with the Portuguese Banco Espirito Santo. The collapse of this financial institution prompted the Bank of Portugal to split the BES into two parts: a 'good bank' called 'Novo Banco' and a 'bad bank' still trading as BES. The player did not terminate his contract with the entity following this development and his image is still used to promote some 'Novo Banco' products.

Bank Julius Baer, founded in 1890, has seen considerable growth in the private banking sector in recent years. It is, however, not the only financial institution interested in snapping up CR7. Merchant Bank in the Middle East and Credit Swiss are also interested in signing the Portuguese star.
