THREE OUT FOR ACCUMULATION OF YELLOW CARDS

Carlo Ancelotti will be missing some key players for his team's next league game after three of his players - of the five who were one booking away from a one-match ban - picked up yellow cards. James was booked in the 20th minute when he cut out a midfield pass with his hand. The most controversial yellow card was handed to Ronaldo for allegedly diving in the 50th minute when he fell inside the box after possibly being brought down by Antonio Amaya. This infuriated the Real Madrid players and their vigorous protests led to Kroos also being booked, which means the team will be without three players against Eibar. This will see Ancelotti give some of his squad players a chance to shine.

Ronaldo's anger at being booked was obvious when he was embroiled in further controversy. When he celebrated Real Madrid's opening goal, he gestured to the linesman that he had been robbed of a penalty. He continued protesting his innocence with the referee at the final whistle.
